I don't always talk about auctions. Today, let's talk about why we work.
I love a campfire. Some of the best moments of my life have happened sitting around one with family and friends. Storytelling. Connection. Laughs. A warm fire on a cool night.
But a campfire is also a magnet.
It's the thing I've used my whole life to pull me forward. When the daily grind gets heavy, the campfire is the beacon. It's what I'm working toward.
Every time I build something new or run a new experiment, I'm thinking one of two things:
This will make a great story around the campfire.
Or:
This is going to be so successful that I'm going to buy a property where we can have amazing campfires.
That's the campfire at RiverSong. It took me 5 years to build. It started with a meeting with a county official and a long list of questions, and ended with me owning a 5-acre property on the river where I host family and friends.
Five years. But it’s not just a ring of stones and a pile of wood.
The fire is not the point.
The point is who's sitting around it.
A campfire alone is just a way to stay warm. A campfire with the right people is where you swap stories, learn what worked, learn what didn't, and leave with more than you came with.
